Tanouy Garden Koh Phangan Review: A Spacious One-Bedroom House Near Full Moon Party

After a few days on Koh Phangan, I came to appreciate just how much space and location can shape a stay.

Even when most of your time is spent at beaches, exploring the island, or heading out to parties, it helps to have somewhere you can unpack, sit down with a drink, and properly unwind.

The One-Bedroom House at Tanouy Garden gave me exactly that.

With a living area, kitchen, spacious bathroom, and rooftop space, it felt easy to settle in and make myself at home for a few days.

Its location around Baan Tai also makes it a convenient base for Haad Rin and the Full Moon Party, other island events, and exploring Koh Phangan.

This review draws on my stay in Tanouy Garden's One-Bedroom House, covering what I enjoyed, what to keep in mind, and who I think would feel most at home here.

My Stay at Tanouy Garden

My first impression of Tanouy Garden was how spacious and comfortable the accommodation felt.

It felt more like staying in a holiday home than a standard hotel room.

There was a living area, a table, and a kitchen, with plenty of room to leave suitcases open without getting in the way.

There was more than enough space for two, and having a comfortable place to come back to after a day out made a real difference.

Beach days, late nights, and scooter rides around Koh Phangan can take more energy than you expect.

Having somewhere to slow down and recharge made the whole stay more enjoyable.

For me, Tanouy Garden struck a good balance between getting out to explore and having space to relax afterward.

What Is Tanouy Garden Like?

Tanouy Garden is a place to stay around the Baan Tai area of Koh Phangan.

I booked the One-Bedroom House for this stay.

With its own kitchen and living area, the layout felt more like a home than a hotel room, and worked well for a relaxed stay of several days.

The property also has a range of other accommodation options, including bungalows and rooms with pools.

What stood out to me about Tanouy Garden was its space, flexibility, convenient location, and everyday comfort.

During my stay, reception offered scooter rentals and could help arrange taxis.

Most communication with the staff was through WhatsApp, which made it easy to request cleaning or ask for help when needed.

If you're planning a trip around the Full Moon Party or events in Baan Tai, or simply want a few relaxed days on the island, it's worth checking availability early.

The One-Bedroom House: More Space Than I Expected

The highlight of my stay was the generous amount of space.

The One-Bedroom House gave us much more than somewhere to sleep: it had a roomy living area, a table, and a kitchen.

We could leave our suitcases open without tripping over them, and there was plenty of room for two people to spread out.

A few nights on Koh Phangan can mean an assortment of swimwear, spare clothes, beach gear, and shopping to find space for.

In a smaller hotel room, that can quickly feel like clutter. Here, keeping everything out of the way was easy.

The table was useful for a quick meal, a drink between outings, or opening up a laptop.

It really felt like having a holiday home for a few days, and that was one of the things I enjoyed most.

A Kitchen That Makes It Easy to Settle In

The One-Bedroom House also comes with a kitchen.

I didn't cook full meals, but it was handy for preparing snacks and fruit and keeping drinks cold.

There were cooking utensils and dishes, along with a kettle, tea and coffee supplies, and drinking water.

The refrigerator was a good size and had a freezer compartment, which I found particularly useful.

It's easy to eat out for every meal on Koh Phangan, but I liked having the option to take a break and eat something simple at home.

That was especially welcome before or after a party, or when coming back from the beach.

If you plan to cook regularly, check the kitchen equipment before booking. For snacks and simple meals, the setup looked practical.

It would also suit a longer stay or anyone who likes to settle into a daily routine while traveling.

Clean, Comfortable, and Well Equipped

The accommodation felt clean, and I had no issues with cleanliness during my stay.

The bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well.

Wi-Fi was stable for my everyday use, too.

The room had the essentials covered, including air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a refrigerator, a hair dryer, toiletries, a safe, and power outlets.

There was some storage, though it was fairly simple and best suited to keeping clothes and everyday items organized.

The decor had a little character while keeping things simple and comfortable.

The overall feel was relaxed and unpretentious, with enough thoughtful touches to make it a pleasant place to spend time.

Large windows brought in lovely views and made the room feel even more open.

A Spacious Bathroom with a Bathtub

The bathroom was generously sized and easy to use.

The shower had good water pressure, and hot water was reliable during my stay.

The toilet was clean, and I didn't notice any problems with drainage, dampness, or odors.

Another welcome extra was the bathtub.

With many island rooms offering only a shower, having a tub felt like a treat.

After a day at the beach, a night out, or riding around the island, I appreciated having such a comfortable bathroom.

Towels were provided as well, and overall I was very happy with the bathroom setup.

Unwinding on the Rooftop

One of my favorite parts of staying at Tanouy Garden was spending time on the rooftop.

The balcony was on the small side, so having the rooftop available made a real difference.

I could see the sea from the accommodation and outdoor areas, with mountains behind the property.

Although the room was listed as having a mountain view, the outlook felt much more open than that, with sea views too.

The mood changed throughout the day, from quiet mornings to evenings outdoors.

The rooftop sunset was a particular highlight.

Being able to enjoy that view without going anywhere made staying in feel like part of the holiday.

The natural surroundings added to the laid-back island atmosphere.

With nature so close by, expect the occasional insect or gecko.

I rarely noticed insects indoors during my stay. I did hear that monkeys sometimes visit, so I kept shoes and other loose belongings inside.

A Convenient Base for the Full Moon Party and Island Events

I found Tanouy Garden well placed for the Full Moon Party and events around Baan Tai.

Haad Rin was roughly a 15–20-minute scooter ride away.

Staying outside the main party area can help keep accommodation costs down, while giving you somewhere more relaxed to spend the rest of your trip.

Some of the other rooms were lively during my stay, and it seemed that quite a few guests were there for the Full Moon Party.

On the day of the party, the occasional group riding past added to the festive atmosphere on the road outside.

The area around the property didn't feel constantly noisy, though.

I liked being within reach of the action while still having somewhere comfortable to unwind.

Baan Tai also worked well for other parties and for exploring the island beyond Haad Rin.

If you want to see more of Koh Phangan during your trip, this area makes a useful base.

Nearby Beaches and Places to Eat

For convenience stores and larger supermarkets, I generally needed to take a short scooter ride rather than just step outside.

That meant riding roughly 10 minutes toward Thong Sala for shops and larger facilities, or heading in the direction of Haad Rin.

There were restaurants and quiet beaches nearby, though, and the immediate area had an easygoing feel.

A few nearby restaurants also had lovely views, making lunch or a casual meal out something to look forward to.

I enjoyed having the option to slow down at a quieter beach or linger over a meal between sightseeing and nights out.

Even if you mainly eat out, stocking the fridge with drinks and fruit makes the room that much more comfortable.

Scooter Rentals and Taxi Arrangements

At Tanouy Garden, I was able to rent a scooter directly from reception.

I picked one up shortly after checking in, which made getting around straightforward from the start.

A scooter can make exploring Koh Phangan much easier.

It gives you the flexibility to visit beaches, restaurants, parties, cafés, and other spots on your own schedule.

Parking at Tanouy Garden was convenient, and I had no trouble finding space for the scooter.
There was parking in front of the reception building, as well as spaces below the accommodation buildings.

Taxi pickups and drop-offs were generally at the property entrance, in front of reception.

Depending on which room you book, though, the access road can be quite steep.
My accommodation was a little way from reception, so I rode up to it. That incline could feel intimidating if you're not confident on a scooter.

Extra care is needed after dark or in wet weather, especially if you have limited riding experience.

Reception could also arrange taxis, so it's worth asking about transport if you're returning from the Full Moon Party or planning a late night.

Friendly, Approachable Staff

The staff left a very positive impression.

Check-in was smooth, and everyone I dealt with was welcoming, polite, and easy to talk to.

Communicating in English was straightforward.

When I stopped by reception, staff were generally available and happy to help with suggestions for exploring the island.

WhatsApp was the main way to contact the team during my stay, including when I wanted to request cleaning.

Housekeeping was arranged on request rather than automatically provided every day.

Knowing I could easily ask for help made it much easier to settle in for a few days.

Guests sometimes chatted in the lobby and restaurant lounge area, giving the property a friendly, sociable feel.

Things to Know Before You Stay

I found Tanouy Garden very comfortable, but a few details may matter more to some travelers than others.

The steep access roads, getting around at night, and the property's informal style are all worth considering before booking.

The main practical consideration at Tanouy Garden is the steep route up to some of the rooms.

The grounds are spread out, so getting from reception to your room may involve a walk, a scooter ride, or a cart transfer.

Parking itself was easy, but the road up to my accommodation had a substantial incline.

A route that feels manageable in daylight can be more challenging after dark or in the rain.

If you're not confident riding at night, ask the staff about transport or arrange a taxi.

The Balcony Is Fairly Small

The balcony looked much as it did in the photos, though it felt fairly compact in person.
It was best suited to two adults.

With the rooftop available as well, there was still space to relax outside.

I enjoyed spending time up there with the views so much that the smaller balcony didn't feel like a major drawback.

To make the most of the outdoor space, use the rooftop as well as the balcony.

Some Outside Noise

I could occasionally hear noise from outside during my stay.

Scooters in particular were audible, so it wasn't completely silent.

Around the Full Moon Party, the road outside could feel livelier as people rode past on their way out.

Personally, I found it manageable and felt it was part of the island's atmosphere.

If you're a light sleeper or want a very quiet stay, check whether your dates coincide with the Full Moon Party or other events.

A Relaxed Stay Rather Than a Luxury Resort

My stay at Tanouy Garden felt closer to having a spacious holiday home with island character than checking into a luxury resort.

The decor was attractive, the room was clean, and the amenities covered what I needed.

It didn't have the polished finish or service style of a high-end hotel, though.

I think it suits travelers who prioritize space, flexibility, value, and location over luxury touches and full hotel service.

The slopes and stairs around the property are also worth checking carefully if you or anyone in your group has limited mobility.

Who Would Enjoy Staying at Tanouy Garden?

Tanouy Garden is a good fit for travelers who want room to relax and a base for exploring the island and its nightlife.

I can see it working particularly well for couples, friends, and anyone staying several days, especially with plans around the Full Moon Party or events in Baan Tai.

Solo travelers could stay here too, though the One-Bedroom House may feel like more space than one person needs.

For me, the layout seemed especially well suited to couples, friends, and families.

The Wi-Fi worked well for my needs, and the table and roomy interior made it look like a practical option for fitting some remote work into a stay.

Staying Here for the Full Moon Party

If you're coming for the Full Moon Party, one of the main decisions is whether to stay in Haad Rin or base yourself a little farther away.

Haad Rin puts you close to the party, but accommodation can become more expensive and the surrounding area can get very lively.

Tanouy Garden is outside Haad Rin, but within reach by scooter or taxi.

That makes it an appealing option if you want to join the party and spend the rest of your trip somewhere more relaxed.

From the Baan Tai area, you can also reach other events, restaurants, and beaches, making it easy to build a trip around more than one night out.

During my stay, I found it a convenient base for both sightseeing and parties.

Being able to ask reception about taxis was also useful when planning a late return.

The One-Bedroom House had a living area, kitchen, table, and large bathroom, giving me much more flexibility than a standard hotel room.

It was clean and had the essentials I needed, including air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and a refrigerator.

Some of the best moments were simple ones: watching sunset from the rooftop, eating a snack in the room, or resting after a day out.

That feeling of having a temporary home on the island was a big part of the appeal.

The location around Baan Tai also made it a useful base for sightseeing, the Full Moon Party, and other island events.

Having scooter rentals and taxi arrangements available through reception made getting around easier.

The steep access roads, extra activity around party dates, and informal atmosphere are worth weighing against your own preferences.

For me, the space, flexibility, location, and friendly staff added up to somewhere I'd happily stay again.

It's a place I'd consider if I wanted to go to the Full Moon Party without basing my whole trip in Haad Rin.

I'd also recommend it to anyone looking for a roomy, comfortable base for a few slower days on Koh Phangan.
